A Wedding for Frank and Wendy

Posted in Wedding

I was honored to photograph this small backyard wedding with my good friend and fellow photographer, Sacha Blue. Sacha and I have collaborated on many projects over the years, and this one really struck a chord with both of us.

Frank’s family put together this simple wedding in only 10-days; All of them pitching in to make the day special. A hand-made cake and quaint baby’s breath bouquet, a borrowed wedding dress… What the wedding lacked in big budget frills, it made up for in love. So much time, energy and love went into making this day special, and it was sweet to see family fidget and fuss over all the little details in their efforts to bless Wendy and Frank.

You see, shortly before the wedding came about, Frank was diagnosed with cancer. It’s terminal- and not knowing how much time he has left-Frank’s family wanted to celebrate his life, and his love for his sweetheart, Wendy.

After hearing his story, Sacha and I felt compelled to gift our photography to Frank and his family. It just felt like the right thing to do. And it was. Sometimes it’s not about the money… it’s about the memories. My heart is so grateful to have been able to contribute to this wonderful day.
